Salt Vessel 4 - Fold
Object Summary The traditional structure of vessel 4 as a two-dimensional object explores the shapes we see in museums - what is abundant, and what shapes reinforce tradition. In combination with the other artefacts, the space they occupy, the people, and the stories surrounding them, they ask how we can create stories around textiles that will reinforce lasting personal relationships with our material possessions.
Production Vessel 4 was submerged in the madder solution with lower a quantity of salt. It has held the shape it was dried in - a traditional curved and upright silhouette, folded over itself and wrinkled. It forms a structure that explores how vessels transcend time both as a tool and as decorative pieces. This opens a space to consider how our present-day interactions bear long-term consequences.
